Centacare Counselling Services

What is Counselling?

Counselling is a respectful relationship between two people, one a trained responsive listener and the other a person needing to talk about a concern.

The counsellor promotes a safe environment in which the person can express their thoughts, feelings and values and begin to gain more awareness and understanding of the problem. The process provides support and assists the person towards a solution which considers the various options available.

When a couple or family comes for counselling, the process involves all those present.

“Counselling provides a time for you to be nurtured and understood . . . it’s amazing how naming and talking about our relationships or other family or personal concerns with a trained counsellor can lead to positive new directions in our lives.”

Getting help early can prevent breakdown of relationships and protect families from emotional distress.

Counselling is confidential.
