Mediation and Conciliation                                                                        

Mediation is a step by step process where Dads & Mums are assisted by an impartial third party to identify the issues, look at options and work out how to reach a workable and practical agreement.

Mediation can include your children being seen separately by another worker. The worker will then feed back to the parents the needs and concerns of the children, allowing children to be represented in the mediation process.

Mediation does not address the emotional side of relationships but a referral to counselling can.

• Mums and Dads remain parents even when they are separated.
• Involvement in the legal system often makes conflict worse when there are other ways of working out separation 
  issues.
• Unresolved, ongoing conflict between separated mums and dads places children at risk.
